Russia expels 20 Czech diplomats in retaliatory move

MOSCOW: Russia has expelled twenty Czech diplomats in retaliation to a slew of diplomatic expulsions by Prague. Moscow has given the Czech diplomats a day to leave while the Czech Republic has given the 18 Russians 72 hours. European Union foreign ministers are also set to discuss during a meeting today the Czech claims about the Russia’s involvement in a blast four years ago.


Prince Philip laid to rest at St. George’s Chapel

BERKSHIRE: In England, the funeral ceremony of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip began at Windsor Castle this evening with one-minute silence.  Only thirty mourners are allowed to attend the impressive ceremony, scheduled to be held at St George’s Chapel under Covid rules. As order of service, Dean of Windsor will pay tribute to Prince Philip’ meritorious services.


Train accident in Egypt’s Qalyubia kills 11

CAIRO: In Egypt, eleven people have been killed and ninety eight injured in a train accident in Qalyubia province north of Cairo. The train was heading from Cairo to the Nile Delta city of Mansoura when four carriages derailed.


Saudi, Iranian officials held talks to repair diplomatic relations after four years

BAGHDAD: Senior Saudi and Iranian officials have held direct talks in Baghdad to repair the diplomatic relations after four years. The first round of the talks focused on Yemen, where a military coalition led by Saudi Arabia has been battling the Houthi rebels since March 2015.


Over 300 rebels killed in northern Chad

In Chad, 300 rebels and five soldiers have been killed in the ongoing intense fighting in the north of the country. Army spokesman General Azem Bermandoa Agouna told media that 36 troops were also wounded in the gun battle which had erupted between a heavily armed rebel group and the army on the next day of Chad’s presidential election on 11th of this month and is continuing. He claimed that the rebel offensive in the provinces of Tibesti and Kanem was over.
