China urges Pakistan to ensure security of its citizens
BEIJING: (DNA) – China on Friday condemned an attack on its consulate in the Pakistani city of Karachi that killed two policemen and urged its ally to ensure the security of Chinese citizens. “China strongly condemns any violent attacks against diplomatic agencies and requests that Pakistan takes practical measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and institutions in the country,” foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said at a regular press briefing.

Dr Shahid Masood arrested from court premises after IHC judge dismisses bail
ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested Dr Shahid Masood from court premises after Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani dismissed his pre-arrest bail. Masood, who is accused of being involved in the embezzlement of Rs38 million from state-run broadcaster Pakistan Television, is being shifted to FIA’s Zonal office.

25 killed, 35 injured in Hangu blast
HANGU, (DNA) – At least 25 people were killed and 35 injured in a blast in Hangu’s Kalaya Bazar area on Friday morning. According to security sources, the blast occurred outside the door of a seminary in Lower Orakzai. The injured have been shifted to a health facility for treatment. Authorities added, the area has been cordoned and investigation into the blast is under way.
