Former President Zardari condemns torture of journalists

ISLAMABAD, MAY 03 (DNA) – Former President of Pakistan and President Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians Asif Ali Zardari has strongly condemned torture of journalists on the International Day of Freedom of Press in Islamabad. He said that this torture raises several questions. The time to stifle the press has long gone. PPP has always respected freedom of press and freedom of expression and party strongly condemns this act of suppression.


One martyred, 13 injured as blast targets bus in Attock

ATTOCK, MAY 03 (DNA) – At least one employee was martyred while seven other sustained injuries as two motorcyclists targeted bus, carrying civilian employees, with explosive material near Dhok Gama area of Attock on Basal road. The bus was completely destroyed by the powerful blast. As per initial details, security forces rushed to the blast scene and cordoned off the area while a search operation was underway. Rescue teams are also shifting injured to the nearby hospitals for medical assistance.

Turkish Chief of General Staff visits Yadgar-e-Shuhada

RAWALPINDI, MAY 03 (DNA) – General Hulusi Akar, Turkish Chief of General Staff (CGS) called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) today at GHQ. Focus of the discussion remained on areas of mutual interest, military to military relations, regional security and measures to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation. Afghan military delegation visits Headquarters Southern Command Quetta

QUETTA, MAY 03 (DNA) – Afghan Military Delegation visited Headquarters Southern Command Quetta today and met Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa. SC rejects Faisal Raza Abidi’s plea to transfer contempt case to Karachi, transfers it to a different bench

ISLAMABAD, MAY 03 (DNA) – The Chief Justice of Pakistan has rejected Faisal Raza Abidi’s plea to transfer his case to Karachi and ordered the case to be transferred to a different bench of the Supreme Court. PPP leader Faisal Raza Abidi was issued contempt of court notice upon his remarks about judges. Faisal Raza Abidi’s lawyer said that he has filed separate applications which the CJP dismissed.
