Mauritius president to resign over ‘shopping’

PORT LOUIS, MAR 10 (DNA) – Mauritian President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim will step down next week, the prime minister said on Friday, after she was accused of using a credit card issued by an international non-governmental organisation to buy clothes and jewellery. Pravind Jugnauth, the prime minister, told reporters Gurib-Fakim would resign after March 12, after the celebration of the country’s 50th anniversary. US, Pakistan agree on need to promote Afghan reconciliation

WASHINGTON: In the latest round of high-level talks between the United States and Pakistan, both sides stressed the need for restarting the process for reconciliation in Afghanistan, Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua told Dawn on Friday. ‘Dual-citizenship holders’ allowed by SC to vote during Senate chairmanship poll

The Supreme Court of Pakistan, while hearing a suo motu case pertaining to the alleged dual nationality of five senators-elect, on Saturday ruled that the senators-elect be allowed to vote in the Senate chairmanship polls to be held on March 12. PIA flight steward held in Paris for ‘heroin smuggling’

ISLAMABAD (DNA News) – A flight steward of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was caught on Saturday by Paris authorities while trying to smuggle heroin. The flight PK-749 arrived in Paris from Islamabad where the drug worth millions of rupees was recovered from the steward during checking. The authorities allowed the passengers and PIA staff to return after inspecting the plane.
