Panama Leaks case: JIT summons PM Nawaz’s children

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on Tuesday has summoned all the three children of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif in the first week of July. According to the details, Hassan Nawaz has been called on July 3, Hussain Nawaz will appear on July 4 while Maryam Nawaz will attend hearing on July 5 at 11:am. On the other hand, JIT will meet today at Federal Judicial Academy after a day off to review the records and statements recorded by different parties. Earlier, the team had once again asked Nawaz Sharif’s cousin Tariq Shafi to appear before it on July 2.

KARACHI, JUN 27 (DNA) – Despite tall claims of K-Electric that there would be no power outages in the city during Eid holidays, residents of Karachi suffered from long hours of unscheduled load shedding on the first day of Eidul Fitr. Long hours of loadshedding ruined the plans of people to celebrate Eid in befitting manner as they spent the day at their homes. JIT once more summons PM’s cousin on July 2

Shafi, on two previous occasions, appeared before the team of investigators on May 16 and 17. It is vital to mention here that Tariq Shafi had submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court, stating that he was part of all transactions relating to the sale of Dubai properties owned by Mian Sharif — father of PM Nawaz Sharif — and transfer of that money to Qatar. However, after having appeared before the JIT, Shafi, through his lawyer, wrote a letter to JIT head Wajid Zia alleging mistreatment of him by some members of the team. The letter read that a JIT member threatened him with serious consequences if he didn’t withdraw the affidavit submitted in the Supreme Court. Thus far, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his brother Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif, his sons — Hassan and Hussain Nawaz — and his son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar have appeared before the Panama Leaks case JIT. The Supreme Court has directed the Panama case JIT to submit its final report on July 10.
