As per details, a meeting of the Sindh cabinet being chaired by Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah was held at the CM House and was attended by cabinet members, interior secretary and finance secretary. It is pertinent to mention that the policing powers of Sindh Rangers expired on April 15 after which the home department also sent a summary to Sindh CM for seeking extension in the special powers of Sindh Rangers. During the meeting, Sindh CM was of the opinion that there are clear directions from the court that the government will make the decision over the matter. The cabinet members approved the extension of Rangers’ powers for a period of 90 days as it also enhance the capacity of the police in dealing the crimes such as terrorism, kidnapping for ransom and target killing. Meanwhile, the cabinet members also appreciated the performance of the Rangers in controlling terrorism and maintaining law and order within Karachi.

New spell of rain, windstorm abate scorching heat across country
