Germany a close friend of Pakistan, says Pervaiz Rashid

ISLAMABAD, NOV 26 (DNA) -Pakistan considers Germany a close friend and would like to further strengthen bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries.Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Federal Minister for IB&NH said this during his meeting with Ms. Ina Lepel, Ambassador of Germany, here on Thursday in Islamabad. He said that Pakistan is one of the most investor friendly countries and all its sectors are open for foreign investments.


PM Nawaz gives Pakistan green light to play India in Sri Lanka

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has permitted the Pakistani cricket team to play a series against India in Sri Lanka next month, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources said on Thursday.According to a source in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the prime minister gave his approval for the India series only after Sri Lanka was finalised as the venue for the fixtures.”The Pakistan government never had a problem with the series going ahead. It only had reservations about the team travelling to India amid the prevailing tensions,” the source said.


ATC sends Dr Asim on four-day police remand

KARACHI: The Administrative Judge of Anti-Terrorism Courts Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto on Thursday remanded PPP leader and close Zardari aide Dr Asim Hussain in four-day custody of the Sindh Police in a case pertaining to treatment and sheltering of terrorists.During the hearing of arguments, a conflict arose between the Sindh Prosecutor General (PG) Shahadat Awan and the Rangers Sindh prosecutor.


Growing number of Pakistani asylum seekers returned from Norway

So far this year, more than 400 Pakistani citizens have applied for asylum in Norway. Most of them have crossed the Norwegian-Russian border in the High North during the last month. “Many have already been returned to Pakistan as their applications are obviously without merit”, says the Norwegian ambassador in Islamabad, Mr Tore Nedrebø. He adds that many more will soon be sent back to their home country or to Russia, as the Norwegian government has now introduced stricter rules for asylum seekers.
