Gunmen kill local US Embassy employee in Islamabad: police

ISLAMABAD: Gunmen have killed a local employee of the US Embassy in Islamabad, on Sunday, police said. Police identified the dead employee as Iqbal Baig, saying he worked for the US Drug Enforcement Agency. They say Baig was killed early Sunday morning at his home and a motive for the attack and killing is still unclear. The US Embassy did not immediately respond to a request for comment. 110 soldiers surrender to Taliban in Badakhshan

BADAKHSHAN: At least 110 soldiers have surrendered to Taliban militants in Badakhshan province, an official said and Taliban claimed. Abdullah Naji Nazari, head of the provincial council of Badakhshan said that 180 soldiers who were under the siege of Taliban in Tir Giran area of Wardouj District have finally surrendered to the insurgents. 48 militants killed in newest military operations

KABUL: At least 48 militants have been killed in newest military operations across the country, Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday morning. A statement issued by the ministry states that these insurgents were killed in different parts of the country in past 24 hours. The statement adds that 20 militants were also wounded during these operations and 12 others detained by the security forces.
