Blast at Shia Mosque in Kuwait kills scores

KUWAIT CITY: A bomb blast has been reported at a Shia mosque during Friday prayers in Kuwait, days after similar attacks on Shiite mosques in Saudi Arabia and Yemen. The blast occurred during the Friday prayers at the mosque even as Muslims are observing the holy month of Ramadan. At least five people are feared dead, according to Twitter posts, while several have been injured. The blast occurred at the al-Sadeq Mosque, one of the largest Shia mosques in the Middle Eastern nation.


A Pakistani allegedly involved in Peshawar bombing arrested in Italy

ROME: A Pakistani suspected of involvement in the Peshawar market bombing — one of the country’s bloodiest attacks — has been arrested in Rome, Italian police said on Friday. The man, who has been living in Italy, is accused of taking part in the attack in 2009 in which 134 died, including many women and children. He was held at Rome’s Fiumicino airport after stepping off a flight from Pakistan. Anti-terrorist police believe he also hid a “suspected suicide attacker who was supposed to carry out an attack” in Italy.Read More
