1ooth Convocation of COMSATS held

ISLAMABAD, MAR 20 (DNA) -COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), a leading degree awarding institution of higher education in Pakistan is among the ‘Center of Excellence’ of Commission on Science & Technology for sustainable development in the South (COMSATS).

CIIT established in 1998, is one of the fast growing research based institutions  in Pakistan with a wide range of academic programs, ranging from basic sciences to cutting edge emerging technologies and a network of inter-disciplinary research centers, making it an ideal place for higher studies leading to MS and Ph.D degrees.

 Since its establishment, CIIT has made multifaceted growth in terms of campuses, number of students, faculty members, academic programs, research output, and  public outreach to accomplish its three fold stated mission ,i.e, research & discovery, teaching & leading and outreach and public service, which makes it a popular choice for undergraduate  as well as graduate programs.

The HEC has ranked CIIT among the top ten institutions of higher education in the country. In just few years, it has expanded from one campus in Islamabad to seven other campuses one each at Abbottbad, Wah, Lahore, Attock, Sahiwal, Vehari and Virtual campus. The CIIT is one of the leading institutions in Pakistan, with a well-established reputation and a wide range of interests and facilities.

In its short history, CIIT has contributed considerably in human resource development and successfully completed several assignments of national and international significance. FounderRector CIIT, Dr. S.M. Junaid Zaidi(SI & HI) being fully aware of the importance of education as a driver of economy and importance of Research and Development promoted the imparting of quality education and inculcated research culture in the Institution.

There were 834 students, who secured BS, MS and PhD degrees in different disciplines of Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics, Physics, Economics, Biosciences, Business Administration, Computer Engineering, Electrical (Telecommunication Engineering), Electronics, Mathematics and Architecture from Islamabad Campus.

 MS degrees were awarded to 191 students in Management Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Physics, Computer Science, Bio Sciences, Metrology, Humanities and Mathematics.

First time MS in English (Linguistic and Literature) (REL) degrees awarded to 05 student including four male and one female student MoneebaUmer, department of Humanities.

PhD degrees were awarded to 08 students including Muhammad Sajid, Sajid Hussain Alvi, Sardar Muhammad Gulfam, Nasir Khan, Ubaid Ahmed Nisar, Reheela Manzoor, Rabia Kamal and Faisal Azam in Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering (03), Mathematics (04), and ComputerScience (1) respectively.

The gold medalists of different degree programs are included Nazish Talat, Maria Saeed, Muhammad Yasin, Nadeem Asghar, Shehram Jamil, Syed Ali Kazim, Kashif Rabbani, Iram Butt, Faiza Shah,  KanwalFiaz and  Saima Nasir for Fall  2016.=DNA
