Standing committee on information & broadcasting meets

Islamabad; 24th June, 2020: Meeting of the Standing Committee on Information & Broadcasting was held in Parliament House, Islamabad this afternoon. Mian Javed Latif, Chairman presided over the meeting.
Ø The Committee expressed grave concern over the passive and irresponsible attitude of the higher management of PTV as they failed to stop the program “Rising Pakistan” telecasted on 5th June, 2020 in which IOJ&K was not shown in the map of Pakistan. The Committee deemed it a criminal negligence and directed that Hon. Federal Minister may hold an impartial investigation and report to the Committee within 07 days of the meeting so that culprits could be penalized accordingly.
Ø The Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting while supporting the view point of the Committee, informed that a high level investigation Committee had already been constituted to probe into the matter and outcome of the inquiry report would be shared with this august Committee.
Ø Earlier, Chairman, PTV informed the Committee that PTV management had immediately terminated two of their responsible employees as a result of departmental inquiry and remedial measures had been adopted to avoid such incidents in future.
Ø The meeting was attended by Mr. Nasir Khan Musazai, MNA, Mr. Aftab Jahangir, MNA, Ms. Naz Baloch, MNA, Ms. Syma Nadeem, MNA, Dr. Nafisa Shah, Ms. Maiza Hameed, MNA and participated through video link by Javeria Zafar Aheer, MNA, Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Behan, MNA and Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting.
