Huge warehouse blaze in Karachi put out after eight hours of efforts
KARACHI, DEC 25 (DNA) – A massive fire that broke out at godown of a courier company near Chamra Chowrangi of Karachi’s Korangi area on Sunday night, has been extinguished after hours-long hectic efforts.
As many as 12 fire brigade vehicles alongside three fire tenders of Pak Bahria took part in the operation.
It was a third degree fire, the firefighting officials said.
No casualties have been reported so far. However, at least one person was reported injured after a part of building was collapsed.
It took over seven hours to the firefighters to bring the blaze under control, rescue officials said, adding, fire brigade vehicles from the entire city were called in.
However, the officials have yet to ascertain the cause of massive fire.
Earlier in September, a big fire had erupted in a warehouse of cosmetics items, destroying the two-storey building and leaving an employee dead while two others injured.
The fire had broke out in the building located in the residential area off Shahrah-e-Faisal, one of the city’s busiest thoroughfares, which resulted in an explosion of chemical drums used in the production of cosmetics goods.
Earlier on Aug 31 at least five people including three firefighters had suffered injuries after a fire erupted at a factory in SITE area. A portion of the factory had collapsed due to the fire.
