PPP Party organizations in all provinces dissolved
ISLAMABAD, APR 13 (DNA) – All Party organizations down to the district level in all the provinces and South Punjab have been dissolved and replaced with a five member organizing committee at the provincial level in each province to recommend to the Chairman PPP on the re-organization issues of the Party within three months.
Spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the decision was taken today taken when a delegation of senior party leaders called on the Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Zardari House Islamabad to welcome the Party Chairman in the federal capital. Bilawal Bhutto had arrived in Islamabad Tuesday evening, he said.
The senior Party leadership who met the Chairman included Faryal Talpur MNA, former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Syed Khurshid Shah, Farooq Naek, Aitzaz Ahsan, Nayyar Bokhari, Latif Khosa, Sherry Rehman, Naveed Qamar, Jehangir Bader, Faisal Karim Kundi, Saleem Mandviwala, Rehman Malik, Qamar Kaira, Ijaz Jhakrani, Jamil Soomro, Rukhsana Bangash, Fouzia Habib and Farhatullah Babar.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also decided to set up a four member committee comprising of leaders of opposition and Party’s Parliamentary leaders both in the National Assembly and the Senate and tasked it to reach out to other political parties for the setting up a Parliamentary Committee with full powers to pursue investigations into Panama leaks including powers to call for forensic investigations through international forensic experts.
Bilawal Bhutto also appointed a four member committee of legal experts to advice him on the legal issues involved and the course of action to be followed for the purpose of undertaking full investigations in a transparent and credible manner in Panama leak. The legal experts committee comprises of Senator AItzaz Ahsan, Senator Farooq Naek, former Governor Latif Khosa and former Chairman Senate Nayyer Bokhari.
Speaking on the occasion Chairman Bilawal Bhutto said that he was deeply perturbed that the government despite its promise had failed to initiate process of meaningful investigations and now there were reports that the honorable judges may not be willing to work as members of inquiry commission.
The Panama leaks have brought a bad name to the country and severely undermined the moral authority to govern. The issue will not die down and must not be allowed to die down and the government must be pressed hard for impartial and credible investigations.
The Party cannot remain oblivious and must vigorously pursue the issues raised in Panama leaks to the logical conclusion. The more the government evades the issue the more it will be chased and haunted by it, he said.
Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the senior party leaders meeting today discussed threadbare for over three hours the situation and the strategy to be adopted in consultation with all political parties. The Party leaders assmebled at Wednesday’s meeting were unanimous in expressing the view that the issue must be pursued vigorously till its logical conclusion.
He said that the issue of party re-organization has been lingering for quite sometime and the Chairman Bilawal Bahutto had announced during the Party’s CEC meeting in Larkana on the eve of April 4 anniversary that he will soon announce Party’s reorganization.=DNA
