CPEC will benefit ECO member states, Says Foreign Secretary

ISLAMABAD, FEB 26, (DNA) – Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry on Saturday said the China Pakistan Economic Corridor will not only benefit Pakistan but also the Economic Coordination Organisation (ECO) member countries.
Addressing the senior officials meeting preceding the ECO Summit in Islamabad which is scheduled to begin on March 1, Chaudhry said it was an honour for Pakistan to host the summit.
He said that Pakistan gives immense importance to the summit, and seeks deeper cooperation with member countries, as the summit seeks to address the challenges of the region.
He appreciated the call by the ECO to host a summit in Kabul on the situation in Afghanistan, as the aim of the summit is to ensure peace and stability in the region.
Secretary ECO Khalid Ibrahim said that the summit will help achieve the objective of the regional summit which will address a range of issues including trade, investment, energy, environment, economic growth and regional connectivity.
The theme of ECO Summit is “Connectivity for Regional Prosperity” with more emphasis on CPEC. It will be attended by representatives including heads of states from ten member countries.
