President Alvi underlines importance of book reading
ISLAMABAD, NOV 15 (DNA)-President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that book reading has an important role in the national development.
He said this during his visit to the National Library.
The President visited various Sections of the Library. During his round of the Section for the People with special needs “Gosha-e-Noor”. He appreciated the administration of National Library for establishing counters for special people.
The President also visited different corners established under MoUs with the libraries of the other countries including Tajikistan, Turkey, Belarus, Azerbaijan, USA, Cuba and Bulgaria.
He also witnessed the digitalization of rare and historic books and newspapers in the archive Section of the Library and appreciated this effort to preserve the history.
The President also inaugurated the ‘Presidential Corner’ in the Library. Earlier, on his arrival with the First Lady, he was welcomed by Minister for Federal Education, Professional Training and National Heritage Mr. Shafqat Mahmood.=DNA
