Joint opposition stages walkout in Senate against gas price hike
ISLAMABAD (DNA) – The joint opposition on Friday staged a walkout from the Senate to protest the hike in gas prices.
Opposition leader Raja Zafarul Haq raised the issue and said the increase in gas prices would lead to inflation.
“IMF is that physician who won’t cure its patient. The price hike will ultimately lead to inflation,” he added.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) on Thursday notified a 143-percent increase in gas prices.
According to the notification, slabs of gas tariff for domestic consumers have been increased from three to seven.
The new prices have been applicable from September 27.
