Re-polling underway in PK-23 Shangla
SHANGLA, (DNA) – Re-electon is in progress on a vacant seat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly PK-23, Shangla-I on Monday
The polling will continue till 6pm, without any break.
The July 25 election in the constituency was declared null and void by the Election Commission of Pakistan over low women turnout.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) Shaukat Yousafzai had won the seat by securing 17,399 votes and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Mohammad Rashad remained the runner-up with 15,533 votes.
This time only Yousafzai and Rashad are in the running as majority of the contestants, including independents, have withdrawn from the contest in favour of the former.
At least 135 polling stations have been established across the constituency among which the ECP has declared 18 polling stations most sensitive, 35 sensitive and 82 normal.
Pakistan Army has been deployed in and outside the polling stations. First class magistrate powers have been given to army personnel.
