Japan beat Pakistan to move into Asian Games Hockey 2018 final
JAKARTA, (DNA) – Japan beat Pakistan by 1-0 to qualify for the 2018 Asian Games Hockey final, according to media reports reaching here on Thursday.
Shota Yamada scored the only goal in the 18th minute from a penalty corner. The final will be played between Japan and Malaysia who eliminated India in the first semi-final of the event.
Pakistan and India will be competing for the bronze medal on September 1.
The men in Green remained unbeaten before taking on Japan in the semi-final clash. They started off their campaign with a 10-0 win over Thailand and then defeated Oman by 10-0.
The side trounced Kazakhstan by 16-0 and clinched a 4-1 win over Malaysia. Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 5-0 in the last game of the round-robin stage.
Pakistan’s performance in the Asian Games 2018 has been swept away of disappointment over the country as it finished in the last four with only three medals, amongst the 37 participating countries, just above Afghanistan, Myanmar, and Syria.
