Presidential election: BNP-M to reconsider support for PTI candidate
QUETTA, (DNA) – Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) on Monday has expressed its reservations over support for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate in the upcoming presidential election,.
According to BNP-M statement, the PTI government had promised to take BNP-M into confidence on nomination of Governor Balochistan and other issues of the province before the presidential election. The sources further said that the government has made no contact with BNP-M in this regard.
The statement further said that BNP-M had supported PTI in the National Assembly in the election of Prime Minister, Speaker and Deputy Speaker but the party will reconsider its support for PTI candidate in the upcoming presidential election.
On the other hand, PTI central leadership will meet Sardar Akhtar Mengal today (Tuesday) during which BNP-M chief apprise them about his party’s reservations.
It is pertinent to mention here that BNP-M has 13 votes in National Assembly, Balochistan Assembly and Senate for the presidential election.
The PTI sources said that Sardar Akhtar Mengal’s BNP-M is a coalition partner of the government in the centre and the party will support the PTI candidate in the presidential election.
