NAB’s top priority to recover looted money: Chairman

ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) honourable Justice Javed Iqbal, on Thursday presided over a high level meeting at NAB headquarters.

Deputy Chairman NAB, Prosecutor General Accountability,  DG operations and senior officers of Bureau were present. The meeting reviewed the performance of operation division of NAB.

Chairman said priority of  NAB was to recover life earned looted money of people from private cooperative housing societies.

NAB had handed over Rs2200 million of looted money to effectees in last seven months. The looted money was recovered from 10 housing societies. This proves that NAB takes action against culprits without caring about their position or status.

He said he had directed RDA, CDA and ICT to provide details of illegal housing societies working in their respective jurisdictions. Chairman had also directed RDA, CDA and ICT to inform people about legal position of housing societies in newspapers and also upload details in their websites. The civic authorities should also take legal action against illegal housing  societies.

Chairman took notice of constructing 100 feet road and restoring the design and layout plan of Aleem Khan’s Park View Enclave housing society in just three days.

The society had earlier been declared illegal by CDA by placing ads in newspapers and also uploaded on Website.

Chairman wondered how the layout plan was allegedly approved by CDA board against rules. Whether former formalities were completed in this case as NAB only wanted to prevent people from loot of societies.
