Asghar Khan case: Sharif, Haq submit reply before apex court
ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Saturday submitted reply before Supreme Court (SC) in Asghar Khan case.
As per details garnered, Nawaz Sharif categorically dismissed accusations of receiving money from either General (retd) Assad Durrani or Younas Habib whereas Haq also rejected the allegations.
Sharif—in his reply—stated that he had not amassed sum worth Rs35 lakhs from Gen (retd) Durrani or any of his representative. Sharif also termed accusations of receiving Rs6 mln from Younas Habib as reckless.
Three-time premier apprised country’s top court that he had recorded his statement in this regard before Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on October-14, 2015.
On the other hand, Haq—in his statement submitted before apex court—JI had not received money from anyone including Inter-Service Intelligence. He went on to say that JI had become part of investigation back then in 2007 voluntarily. “I had submitted affidavit that allegations hurled at JI were fake. I am ready to appear before any competent authority under capacity of JI chief”, stated Haq.
Meanwhile, FIA team directed Younas Habib, Yousaf Memon, Afaq Ahmad, Jam Haider and Imtiaz Sheikh to appear in its Karachi office. FIA ordered all aforementioned persons to bring with themselves complete record and documents. Sources privy to development stated that FIA will record statements of Younas Habib and Yousaf pertaining to issuance of money to Shehbaz Sharif and Javed Hashmi.
