Sindh MPA Rubina Qaimkhani’s son dies in car accident

KARACHI, MAR 03 (DNA) – Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) MPA Rubina Qaimkhani’s 16-year-old son met a tragic end when his SUV overturned near Village Restaurant on Sea View Road here late Friday night.

According to preliminary investigation reports, the vehicle skidded and turned turtle due to high speed.

As result of the accident, Qaimkhani’s son Hamza along with his friend Afsaryab Khan sustained critical injuries.

Passers-by and police patrol car were among the first to reach the spot and shifted the injured to South City Hospital in Clifton, where the MPA’s son breathed his last. The condition of Hamza’s friend is said to be precarious.

The funeral prayers of deceased will be held today (Saturday) in Hyderabad.

Soon after the incident, an extra contingent of law enforcers reached the accident site for an investigation. The officials, quoting the initial reports, confirmed that the accident occurred due to over speeding.

The PPP leaders visited Qaimkhani’s residence to offer condolences.

Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Sial has directed DIG Traffic Karachi to submit a report on the accident.

Qaimkhani has been a member of the Sindh Assembly since June, 2013.

She was elected to the National Assembly as a PPP candidate on a seat reserved for women from Sindh in 2002, besides serving as federal parliamentary secretary for human rights during her second tenure as an MNA after being re-elected in 2008.
