ISLAMABAD, NOV 28 (DNA) –  Royal Navy of Oman Commander Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah Al Raisi visited the Naval Headquarters Islamabad on Tuesday and called on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.

Upon arrival at the Naval Headquarters, the Omani naval commander was received by Pakistan’s naval chief. A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy, clad in white ceremonial dresses, presented Rear Admiral Abdullah with a guard of honour. The visiting dignitary was then introduced to principal staff officers.

Later, Abdullah and Abbasi held discussions on professional matters and bilateral naval collaboration. Various avenues of cooperation between the two navies was also discussed at length.

Admiral Abbasi highlighted Pakistan’s commitment and performance in the fight against terrorism, including participation of Pakistan Navy in Coalition Maritime Campaign Plan (CMCP) and counter piracy operations. The visiting dignitary was also briefed about numerous tenures of command of Multinational Task Forces 150 and 151 by senior Pakistan Navy officers.

A comprehensive brief on regional maritime environment and Pakistan Navy’s contribution in regional maritime security was also given to the visiting delegation. The Omani naval commander highly appreciated the role and contributions of Pakistan Navy in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

This visit was expected to greatly augment the bilateral cooperation between the navies of both the Islamic countries.
