Forest land going to power projects
PESHAWAR, NOV 12 (DNA) – K-P Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has agreed in principle to the proposal regarding utilisation of lands owned by environment and wildlife department for tourism and power generation projects.
He was chairing a combined meeting of wildlife, forest and environment departments at Chief Minister House on Saturday. The chief minister however stressed that projects should be environment-friendly.
The meeting agreed to the recommendation that the wildlife, forest and environment departments will get share of 10% of profit as compensation for any project set up on their land.
Secretary Energy Engineer Naeem Khan told the meeting that an additional 400 kanals land of forest department was required for the under construction 840 MW Shukki Kinari project at Mansehra.
