Fire breaks out following blast in cosmetics factory in Karachi
KARACHI, SEPT 20 (DNA) – A cosmetics factory located in a residential area at Shahrah-e-Faisal in Karachi caught fire after a blast was reported in the vicinity on Wednesday.
As per initial reports, the fire broke out in the factory after the incident. Police, Rangers and rescue teams have reached the site of the incident promptly to help the victims and to overcome the blaze. As many as three fire tenders are trying to douse the flames.
In addition, bomb disposal squad has also called into the site of the incident to ascertain the nature of the explosion.
Reports suggest that the explosion occurred in the area of the building where the chemicals are stored.
Authorities have reported one person missing following the incident. The police authorities have begun investigating the incident.
Police have said there are high chances that the event happened due to mishandling of the chemicals. The intensity of outburst was so high that it damaged the adjacent buildings as well, and broke their glasses. Fire tenders are busy in dousing the blaze.
Initial reports suggest that it is likely that the explosion occurred as a result of manhandling of chemicals.
During the indient, damage has been reported to adjacent buildings.
