CJP approves review petition against Panama case verdict for hearing
ISLAMABAD, SEPT 08 (DNA) – Chief Justice of Supreme Court, Justice Saqib Nisar, approved the review petition filed by sacked premier Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer against Panama case verdict for hearing.
Supreme Court Chief Justice has formed a three-member bench chaired by Justice Ejaz Afzal to hear review appeal against decision to disqualify the ex-PM. Justice Ejaz Afzal was previously a part of the five-member bench who heard Panama case against Sharif family.
The bench formed for review petition will hear the case from September 12. Nawaz Sharif had earlier filed three review appeals in his petition against the Panama case verdict that resulted in his judicial ouster from the position of power. His lawyer objected that the jurisdiction belonged to three-member bench and non-withdrawn salary is not the part of assets according to income tax laws.
Today, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed four corruption references against Sharif family and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad s local accountability court, following the top court s ruling over Panama case.
