Dead line will not be extended beyond 60 days, Supreme Court
ISLAMABAD, MAY 22, (DNA) – Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head Wajid Zia has submitted first report pertaining to Panama case probe in Supreme Court on Monday.
The hearing is being conducted by a three-member bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal. The bench is reviewing the interim report which comprises of two parts.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan is also present in the courtroom. While responding to a journalist’s question outside the SC that whether PTI will demand the court to open the report, he replied that decision will be taken after the report is presented in the court.
However; PTI has demanded to conduct the hearing of the case in open court for transparent probe.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Daniyal Aziz lambasted at Imran Khan and said that despite the passage of three weeks, he has not sumbitted his money trail. He said that the PTI chief is a proclaimed offender therefore he should be behind bars but he is roaming around in the streets fearlessly.
Two weeks back, a six-member JIT constituted by the Supreme Court initiated probe into Panama Papers case at the Federal Judicial Academy. The JIT includes officials from Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI), State Bank (SB), Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) while director-general level FIA officer will head the team. JIT will have jurisdiction to travel abroad for investigation.
