New spell of rain, windstorm abate scorching heat across country
LAHORE, APR 22, (DNA) – Prolonged scorching heat has subsided as new spell of rains continued to lash parts of country including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir.
A fierce windstorm ripped the country on the midnight of Friday and Saturday, causing failure of electricity and disrupting flight schedule in Islamabad and other cities.
As per Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Lahore, Jhelum, Gujrat, Sialkot, Sargodha, Kasur, Attock, Mianwali, Wazirabad, Khyber Agency, Malakand, Peshawar, Hazara and many areas in Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan witnessed rain.
On the other hand, the windstorm has claimed six lives and left dozens of people injured in differenct mishaps.
Woman and a daughter were killed and six people sustained wounds in a roof collapse incident in Dera Ismail Khan while another man died in lightning strike in village Kokar.
Separately, a man was killed in Lower Dir when a wall caved in whereas two were hurt as sign board dropped down in Ferozwala. In Sheikhupura, a car caught fire as stadium’s electricity wires fell on it.=DNA
