Afghanistan has optional sources if enemy blocks trade routes: Ghani
KABUL, MAR 26, (DNA) – Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has said that other optional sources are also available in case the enemy block the trade routes to the country.
Speaking during a gathering in Mazar-e-Sharif city, the provincial capital of Balkh, he affirmed that Afghanistan has become an inseparable part of Middle East.
According to Afghan media, the president has asserted that Kunduz, Heart and Mazar Sharif will be connected through a railway network which will link China to Iran via Afghanistan.
The statement came after Pakistan closed the two main border crossings, Torkham and Chaman, to Afghanistan last month following a series of terrorist attacks by militants operating from across the frontier.
The closure choked off a key trading route for landlocked Afghanistan. It also cut off Pakistani traders from a steady market.
Pakistani authorities say terrorists infiltrate from Afghanistan into Pakistan through the border crossings.
However; Torkham gate was reopened last week following the directions of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif as ‘a goodwill gesture’.=DNA
