CPEC to ensure regional connectivity, says Tajik ambassador

ISLAMABAD, NOV 28 (DNA) – Ambassador of Tajikistan Sherali Jononov has said the China, Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will ensure regional connectivity thus spurring trade and economic activity.
The Tajik ambassador expressed these views while speaking at a conference on the occasion of ECO Day 2016 held at Federation of Pakistani Chamber of Commerce and Industry Capital Office, on Monday.
He said soon a cultural troupe from Tajikistan will come to Pakistan, which would surely cement people to people contacts. Similarly, this visit will also boost cultural relations between the two brotherly countries.
Ambassador Sherali further said CPEC was undoubtedly a gamer changer project, which would not only bring huge benefits to Pakistan but will change the lot of the region also.
He said, it is now up to the regional countries as to how they benefit from this opportunity.
The Tajik ambassador also talked about various other projects especially CASA 1000 energy project whereby Pakistan will be able to get energy from Tajikistan. Once completed the project would sufficiently cater to energy needs of Pakistan, he added.
The ambassador further said, Tajikistan and Pakistan relations are deep rooted. He said leadership of both countries have a clear understanding to take these relations to new heights for which both sides have held a number of high level meetings.
Ambassador Sherali said Tajikistan was fast evolving as a growing regional economy and because of its strategic location it had acquired huge significance.
He invited all businessmen to come to Tajikistan and explore various business opportunities available to foreign investors.
He said, following the directions of his leadership, he will leave no stone unturned in promoting and strengthening bilateral relations with Pakistan.
Ambassador or Iran Mehdi Hoonardost, Deputy Head of Mission Afghanistan and Commercial Counselor Embassy of Turkey also spoke on the occasion.=DNA
