“I thank people of Pakistan who prayed for my safe recovery. This is only what I want to say,” he said while speaking to media persons accompanied by his father.
Ali Haider Gilani reached Pakistan on Wednesday after he was recovered in a joint United States (US) and Afghan operation in Afghanistan against Taliban a day before that. He was abducted during a rally in May 2013 in Multan and shifted to Afghanistan.
The former prime minister said that it was no less than a miracle that his son’s life was saved. He further said that Ali Haider had made notes during captivity to write a book but they were set on fire.
It was Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari who broke the news about abductee’s recovery. He stated on a social media platform that Yousaf Raza Gilani had received a phone call from ambassador in Afghanistan to inform him about the development.
Ali Haider’s recovery has come nearly two months after slain former governor, Salman Taseer’s son, Shahbaz Taseer managed to escape Taliban captivity in Afghanistan. He returned home after around five years. DNA
