FATA reforms to be introduced with consultation of tribesmen: President

 

ISLAMABAD, 19 JAN, (DNA) – President Mamnoon Hussain has said FATA reforms will be introduced with the consultation of the tribesmen.

Talking to a delegation of tribal elders in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said reforms will bring real change in the tribal areas.

The President said that terrorists’ backbone has been broken in the country and lauded the immense sacrifices rendered by the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies and the people of FATA in elimination of terrorism.

The President said that the government is endeavoring to resolve the problems of displaced persons of FATA and restore complete normalcy there. The President stated that soon educational and commercial centers would be established in FATA in order to bring the region at par with the other areas of the country. He further said that the process of introducing legal reforms in FATA would be undertaken in thorough consultation with the people of the region.

President Mamnoon said that with the completion of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor a new era of prosperity will usher in the country. The President welcomed the consensus achieved in All Parties Conference convened by the Prime Minister regarding the Economic Corridor project and removal of misunderstandings. “People should support the government for completion of the Economic Corridor which is the most important development of the century”, exhorted the president.

The President expressed his optimism that the Quadrilateral Contact Group meetings would yield positive results to bring peace in Afghanistan and the region. Similarly, Pakistan is also playing a proactive role for unity and harmony amongst Muslim countries, added the President. The President hoped that Pakistan’s efforts for peace and unity amongst Muslim Ummah will come to fruition.

Governor KPK Sardar Mehtab Abbassi and Federal Minister for SAFRON Lt.General ® Abdul Qadir Baloch were also present during the meeting. On the occasion, the President also announced a grant of one million rupees for Tribal Jirga. =DNA
