KARACHI: Pakistan all-rounder Fawad Alam has been fined with 100 per cent of his match fee for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match at the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday.

The out-of-favour Test cricketer was representing National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) against Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) in the super eight round of Pakistan’s premier first-class tournament.

Fawad was imposed with the fine by match referee Anwar Khan after he was engaged in a heated argument with on-field umpires following a LBW decision that saw him go back to the pavilion for just seven runs.

NBP defeated SSGC by seven wickets in their second super eight match after suffering defeat at the hands of United Bank Limited in their last match at UBL Sports Complex.

Fawad, a seasoned first-class player, has amassed 9,552 runs in his 123-match career at an impressive average of 57.01.

The 30-year-old has also represented Pakistan in three Tests. His last Test outing came against New Zealand in 2009.

Fawad will be representing Karachi Kings in the upcoming Pakistan Super League which kicks off on February 4, 2016.
