SBP introduces SMS service for new currency notes
KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan has introduced a SMS service to provide customers with new currency notes on Eid-ul-Fitar.
The notes will be available at select branches of private banks from July 8 onwards.
According to State Bank, customers will have to send a message at 8877 along with their CNIC number and branch code of the concerned bank.
In reply to message, details will be texted back which will contain transaction code and address of bank from which the quota of new notes can be retrieved. The transaction code will be valid for two days.
One stack of 10, 20 and 50 rupees notes has been fixed for the quota for one person while bundles of 100 rupee notes will also be available if in stock.
One person can take his quota one time only and will be charged for the service which will include taxes. The service will be launched on trial basis in 28 cities.
