ISLAMABAD, SEP 26: The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Islamabad lowered its national flag to half-mast and opened a Book of Condolences following a tragic accident involving members of Kazakhstan’s armed forces during naval exercises on the Caspian Sea coast.

According to the Embassy, the incident occurred on September 24 when severe weather conditions and strong winds struck a military training operation. Seventeen servicemen were swept into the sea, resulting in the deaths of fourteen personnel.

In observance of the national mourning declared in Kazakhstan, diplomats, military officials, representatives of international organizations, members of the media, and experts visited the Embassy to express solidarity with the people of Kazakhstan and pay tribute to the deceased servicemen.

Condolence messages were recorded by senior Pakistani officials and ambassadors from numerous countries, including Belarus, Russia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Romania, Palestine, Kyrgyzstan, and the United States. Defense attachés and representatives from the United Nations, UNICEF, and several diplomatic missions also signed the condolence book.

The Embassy expressed gratitude for the messages of sympathy and support received from the diplomatic community and Pakistani stakeholders during this period of mourning.
