Key militant commander killed in security force operation: ISPR
RAWALPINDI, MAY 20 /DNA/ – Security forces carried out a successful operation today against a banned militant group. A key Afghan commander named Basir was killed during the encounter. One of his Afghan associates was arrested.
According to intelligence reports, security forces tracked Commander Basir to the Shaban area before the operation.
- He was the son of Noorullah, another Afghan militant commander.
- Basir had planned many attacks against security forces.
- He was also the operational commander for groups trying to sneak into the Shaban area.
Previous incident: Earlier, on February 22, 2026, a group of five suicide bombers under Basir’s command was also killed by security forces in the Pshin area.
Official Statement: The death of Commander Basir is considered a major success for security forces in the fight against terrorism.
Ongoing Operations: Operations under the name “Operation Azm-e-Istehkaam” continue successfully against militant groups.
