DUSHANBE: The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, received the Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence Service of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Asim Malik.
The meeting discussed the current state and prospects of political relations between Tajikistan and Pakistan, including in the direction of ensuring regional peace, stability and security, as well as ways to address other pressing issues of bilateral cooperation.
The head of state, expressing satisfaction with the fruitful process of political relations between the parties, highly appreciated the level of mutual trust between the two states.
The Tajik President emphasizing the partnership of the two countries in the field of security, considered the constant contacts of representatives of the sectoral structures of the parties a mutually beneficial affair.
The parties stressed the need to further strengthen cooperation in the areas of combating terrorism, extremism, radicalism, drug trafficking, and transnational crime.
Pakistan and Tajikistan share a historically rich relationship rooted in cultural, linguistic, and geographic commonalities. As neighbors in Central and South Asia, the two nations are strategically linked, offering mutual opportunities for economic, security, and cultural collaboration.
Both countries collaborate on regional security issues, including counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics efforts. Tajikistan’s geographic proximity to Afghanistan makes it a key partner for Pakistan in promoting peace and stability in the region. Regular military and intelligence exchanges strengthen this partnership.
