PARIS: At the Olympic Games in Paris on August 8, Kyrgyz Greco-Roman wrestler Amantur Ismailov will compete in the 67 kg weight category.

He started on August 7 from the 1/8 and defeated his opponent from Georgia, Ramaz Zoidze, ahead of schedule with a score of 12:1.

However, in the quarterfinals he lost to Parviz Nasibov from Ukraine with a score of 6:7.

Nasibov reached the final, allowing Ismailov to continue the fight for the bronze medal.

In the first round of the consolation tournament, Ismailov defeated his opponent from Serbia, Mate Nemes, ahead of schedule with a score of 8:0.

Later, in the fight for bronze, the Kyrgyz Greco-Roman wrestler lost to Azerbaijani Hasrat Jafarov with a score of 0:8.

This is the first Olympic Games for the 26-year-old Kyrgyzstani. In 2018, Ismailov won bronze at the Asian Games. In 2019, he won bronze at the U23 Asian Championship. He is also a bronze medalist at the 2022 World Championship.
