ECP writes letter to KP govt for action against Maulana Fazl’s brother
ISLAMABAD, FEB 06 (DNA) — The Election Commission of Pakistan has written a letter to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government asking it to take an action against JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s sibling Ziaur Rehman for violating election act.
The election commission on Sunday sent the letter to the KP chief secretary and directed him to take departmental action against Maulana Fazl’s brother Ziaur Rehman who is a government employee.
The younger Rehman participated in the Feb 3 election campaign of Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam (Fazl). He spoke in favour of Kafeel Nizami, the party’s candidate for mayorship of Dera Ismail Khan tehsil.
According to the ECP, it’s a violation of election act that any government official either takes part in elections or participates in election campaign. It has called upon the provincial chief secretary to launch a departmental action against Mr Ziarur Rehman.
The letter was issued by the KP election commissioner on the report and complaint of district monitoring officer of Dera Ismail Khan. The election for the seat of DIK tehsil mayor is going to be held on Feb 13, 2022. =DNA
