Tarin urges traders, industrialists to ‘trust’ government
ISLAMABAD, AUG 20 (DNA) – Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin said on Friday that addressing the concerns of industrialists and traders of Karachi was the responsibility of the government.
Addressing a function in Karachi, Shaukat Tarin said already some of the issues confronting traders and industrialists of the port city had been resolved. He informed the gathering that the government had made short-term, medium-term and long-term policies in order to improve the economic state of the country.
He asked traders and industrialists of the city to trust the government since it had taken some important decisions for the industrial development of the country. “Addressing the concerns of investors and industrialists is among the government’s priorities,” Tarin said, adding the government had never shied away from talking on any issue.
He told the gathering that efforts were being made to resolve the refund issue, while the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) was making rapid progress on the matter of point of sales.
The finance minister said that last week he had submitted to Prime Minister Imran Khan a report on the country’s economic situation. “What we had promised to the nation, what we achieved and what we did not all was explained in the report in detail,” he explained. = DNA
