SC accepts Justice Isa’s review petitions

The Supreme Court gave the verdict in favour of Justice Qazi Faez Isa with a ratio of 6-4

ISLAMABAD: Announcing a short order in Supreme Court of Pakistan, judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s review petition, the Supreme Court of Pakistan Monday accepted the applications submitted by the judge and his wife Serena Isa for the review of the presidential reference filed against the judge.

However, the detailed verdict in the case would be announced later. The Supreme Court gave the verdict in favour of SC judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s review petition with a ratio of 6-4.

According to details, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, Justice Qazi Amin and Justice Umar Ata Bandial wrote dissenting notes.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had reserved its verdict in SC judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s review petition on Monday afternoon. During the hearing, Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked that the case hearing was complete. Justice Bandial said the court also wanted to know when did the facts related to Justice Isa’s case first surfaced.

He said for the first time details of the SC judge case came to light in 2019. He expressed surprise at how on earth could Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) take action in Justice Isa’s case before details of his case were first reported.

“And when at last, details came to light, the question was raised how did the SC judge manage to buy those properties under review,” Justice Bandial remarked.

Amir Rehman, FBR official, on the occasion, said the bureau did not take any action in the case since the matter was sub judice. Justice Bandial said in order to protect the stature and prestige of the institution (Supreme Court), it was necessary that the case hearing was completed early.
