RCCI demands exemplary punishment in motorway incident

RAWALPINDI, SEPT 16 – The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has demanded an exemplary punishment in Gujarpura motorway incident.
The motorway incident has brought fear and insecurity among the citizens and business community shows full solidarity with the victim family.
This was stated by President RCCI Saboor Malik while addressing a rally organized by Rawalpindi chamber of Commerce in solidarity with the victim family and to raise voice for women rights here on Wednesday in Rawalpindi.
A large number of women from all walks of lives, Industry, academia and civil society participated in the rally. The participants wore black armbands and holding placards with various slogans for women’s rights.
The house also passed a nine point declaration demanding that the victim’s identity should not be revealed to the media or anyone else. Female Interrogation officers should carry out all initial investigations and Special courts should be formed for dealing such cases with all female staff including judges etc.
The house also urged that the death penalty should be the only punishment for all such cases and all appeals be decided upon within 30 days of filing the application.
It further asked that all punishments should be carried out within 7 days after the lapse of appeal period.
The house voices that all costs of the lawsuits upon victims should be borne by the state and strongly demanded that the bails of rapists & molesters be cancelled.
Group leader Sohail Altaf, former president Shahid Saleem, Senior Vice President Nosherwan Khalil Khan, Vice President Hamza Sarosh, Vice President FPCCI Nadeem Sheikh, representatives from trade associations, Sheikh Hafeez, Sharjeel Mir, members of the executive committee, women members and a large number of women members were also present on the occasion.
