Pakistan Railways shuts down Moghalpura engine sheds, workshops over coronavirus
LAHORE, APR 8 (DNA) – The Pakistan Railways shut down on Wednesday engine sheds and workshops at the Moghalpura Railway Station, Federal Railway Minister Sheikh Rasheed confirmed.
The decision was taken after an employees of the department working at the railway workshop tested positive for the novel coronavirus, he said.
According to the minister, employees have been instructed to stay at home until April 12. “We will ensure that all these employees are paid on time during this time,” he said.
Rasheed added that presently 122 freight trains were being run across the country.
Pakistan Railways has shut down all passenger trains across Pakistan as a precautionary measure to contain the coronavirus outbreak. Only freight and cargo trains have been allowed to operate.
The country had reported more than 4,000 COVID-19 cases so far. Fifty-eight people have died from the virus.
