KARACHI, (DNA): The U.S. Consulate General in Karachi celebrated the culmination of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) November 18-24, with a closing ceremony attended by entrepreneurs from a diverse range of fields. Over 500 people participated in programming around this year’s theme: “Entrepreneurship 201: Scaling-up Your Startup!”

During the week, the U.S. Consulate hosted workshops, panel discussions, roundtable talks, and speaker sessions ranging from, “Inclusivity and Diversity in Entrepreneurship” to “The Art of Public Speaking and Pitching.” The engagements focused on taking nascent startups and businesses to the next level.

Addressing the entrepreneurs at the closing ceremony, Public Affairs Officer Jason Green said, “Your innovation and dedication drive Pakistan’s future.  The United States is committed to supporting economic growth in Pakistan, and we can best do that by supporting the immense talent and potential we see daily.”

From highlighting the importance of inclusion and diversity and continuing professional development, to the role of government policies in creating a fertile environment for entrepreneurship, the U.S. Consulate helped foment conversations that can lead the way in making entrepreneurship more accessible for a greater number of people.

Launched in 2008 by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), GEW aims to break down entry barriers, creating an inclusive ecosystem in which entrepreneurs flourish, no matter their background. Over 170 countries participate in GEW, conducting activities every year that promote entrepreneurship.=DNA
