Fawad Ch launches Hijri Calendar, says Eid to be celebrated on June 5

ISLAMABAD, MAY 26 (DNA) – Federal minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry launched the country’s first moonsighting website and Hijri Calendar on Sunday and announced that based on the lunar observations Eid will be celebrated on June 5.
Fawad Chaudhry said that he has sent the five-year Hijri Calendar to the Islamic Ideology Council, adding that the calendar will be presented before cabinet on Wednesday.
Fawad said he personally believes that there was no need to have Ruet-t-Hilal Committee in the country. He said a number of departments have collaborated to make the moonsighting website and calendar.
The calendar was prepared keeping in view the scientific requirements to deal with the discord every year over the Ramadan and Shawal moon sighting. This calendar will help in solving these differences.
